Advent Breath Prayers For Each Enneagram Type

Hey friend. Are you hanging in there? Do you have all the gifts shopped for and wrapped, or are you more like me and hoping all the Amazon packages will make it time? Perhaps you have all the physical elements of the celebration together, but the pace and relationship dynamics has you feeling frazzled.

Regardless of how these questions land in your mind and heart right now, I want you to know I am here for you and offer this short but hopefully soul-replenishing episode for you. In just a minute, I am going to talk you through a breath prayer for each Enneagram Type that you can write down and practice yourself, or just listen to this episode as many times as you want and enjoy all the breath prayers. 

So whether you are driving around town, walking an indoor track, or making a mess in the kitchen, may the peace of Christ envelop you today. 

[2:50] What is a breath prayer? A breath prayer is intentionally short and repetitive. It usually consists of just a few words or a brief phrase, and the brevity allows you to easily remember it and then repeat it. The unique aspect of a breath prayer is that it's synchronized with your breath. You inhale as you silently say or think about one part of the prayer, and exhale as you say or consider the other part. 

When I breathe in, I'm receiving truth, and when I breathe out, I'm letting go. 

[4:06] Prayer for Type 8's: "I bless you, Type 8, with the truth found in Colossians 1:11. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with His joy. Breathe in, God's patience fills me. Breathe out, I relinquish my control."

[4:54] Prayer for Type 9's: "I bless you, Type 9, with the truth found in Isaiah 26:3. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you. Breathe in, I find my peace in Christ.  Breathe out, I cast all my cares upon the Lord."

[5:57] Prayer for Type 1's: "I bless you, Type 1, with the truth found in 2 Corinthians 12:9. Each time He said, 'My grace is all you need, my power works best in weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me. Breathe in, I embrace God's grace. Breathe out, I let go of perfection."

 [6:00] Prayer for Type 2's: "I bless you, Type 2, with the truth found in 1 John 4:19. We love each other because He loved us first. Breathe in, I receive God's love. Breathe out, I love because He loves me."

[6:29] Prayer for Type 3's: "I bless you, Type 3, with the truth found in Ephesians 2:10. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Breathe in, I am God's masterpiece. Breathe out, I am present in this moment."

[7:03] Prayer for Type 4's: "I bless you, Type 4, with the truth found in Psalm 37:23. The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Breathe in, I receive God's delight in me. Breathe out, nothing goes unseen by Him."

 [7:35] Prayer for Type 5's: "I bless you, Type 5, with the truth found in Proverbs 3:5. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Breathe in, God is trustworthy. Breathe out,  I open my heart."

[8:04] Prayer for Type 6's: "I bless you, Type 6, with the truth found in Psalm 56:3. But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Breathe in, I trust God's protection. Breathe out, I release my fear."

 [8:39] Prayer for Type 7's: "I bless you, Type 7, with the truth found in Psalm 16:11. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Breathe in,  God's ways are better than mine. Breathe out, I surrender my plans."

It is my sincere hope and prayer that these breath prayers minister to you in a powerful way, not because they are my words, but because they are Holy Scripture encountering your heart and mine today. I pray that these special Advent episodes that I've put together for you this season blesses you richly. I'm truly grateful for you and for another full year together.
