We are kicking things off with a New Years themed conversation with Carly Tizzano, an Enneagram One, and a New Year's Resolution Coach! Yes, that IS a thing!

Do you want to make a few goals for yourself to meet in 2023? Then you will love Carly's take on making goals aligned with your values and personality.

For the full scoop on Carly's take on sustainable resolutions, head to your favorite podcasting listening platform and download episode #245 of the Simply Wholehearted Podcast, but if you prefer a summarized version, this blog post is for you.

If you've been a podcast listener for a while, you know I've always got to find a way to help you learn a little more about the Enneagram, so when I asked Carly how she would define her inner critic, her response was, "I would describe her as the higher version of me … but not in a good way."

If you are an Enneagram One or know an Enneagram One, I'm curious to know how you would describe the inner critic.

While Carly hasn't always KEPT New Year's resolutions perfectly, in Enneagram One fashion, she has always set them as that's just what you are "supposed" to do. But over the years, she has learned ways to support people like you in actually keeping the goals you set for yourself.

She is a massive advocate for harnessing the excited energy that comes with a New Year to help you set your goals for the year. Carly personally ONLY sets resolutions this time of year for that reason.

What are some of those tips?

  • Make sure that your goals are actually ones you want to meet.
  • Set our goals around upcoming known life transitions (ex., a move, a career shift, a baby, etc.)
  • Ask yourself what attributes your year from now self would like to be able to celebrate.
  • Consider what goals you need to set professionally and personally now to become the person you desire on December 31st, 2023.
  • Be willing to pivot plans when the Lord guides you; go when He says go, and stay when He says stays.
  • Make the process (and rewards) as fun as possible!

Comment below with what YOU desire to see yourself doing at this time next year. I'd love to cheer you on and encourage you!
